Experience the wonders of agriculture at Farm Camp!
At Farm Camp, students of various ages and skills will come together to learn Farming God’s Way (FGW): a well-balanced gardening method that equips students to grow food for themselves, and their family and friends. FGW practices align with laws God put in place to govern His diverse creation and their complex inter-relations with one another.
Each week, students will get their hands dirty as they are discipled in FGW methods through both classroom and hands-on activities. They will also participate in various other farming activities like caring for livestock, growing mushrooms, and beekeeping. They will have the opportunity to hear from a variety of visiting educators on subjects such as agribusiness, herbalism, soil science, vermicomposting, goat care, and more. They will even have the chance to join in recreational activities like fishing, hiking, games, and field trips. Since Powder Keg Farms is a working farm, the weekly structure and basic instruction will be the same, but other activities will change based on farm needs, visiting educator availability, and scheduled recreational activities.
This camp is for rising second graders through twelfth graders. Camp runs weekly from May 28 through August 30 from 9 am to 3:30 pm at Powder Keg Farms in High View, WV.
Students are welcome to participate for one week or multiple weeks. Multiple weeks do not need to be consecutive. Sibling and multi-week discounts apply. Discounts can be combined. Limited scholarship opportunities available, and information is available upon request. Students will need to bring a refillable water bottle, bag lunch, sunhat, bandana, sunscreen, appropriate footwear, change of clothes, and a pair of gardening gloves.
